Every now and then; we (Saints) just need a reminder as to what, why, and who we do things for. The Word of God, according to Colossians 3:23 (KJV) keeps us in remembrance of the following:
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto men;” …
The above scripture is meant to remind us of that in all things we do; do it as unto the Glory of God. Not to be recognized by men, not as men pleasers; but from the heart unto the Lord and the kingdom of God. When we realize how important and that it’s most important to please the Lord; our hearts will be guarded from the expectation of what people think or say concerning our well doing.
Our labor for the Lord is not in vain. Our giving unto the Lord and His work is not in vain. Ultimately, our living for the Lord is not in vain. He sees what is done in secret (and in the spirit); and will reward accordingly (openly). Joy is birthed out of giving and doing right by God; not to be seen and earn a “pat on the back” from men (others).
In addition, it is of high importance that you give “all” when doing for God and His kingdom. Ask yourself about the intentions and motives of your heart. Are you doing your best, giving Him 100% of your best? We serve a God that only gives us His best. We saw that through His sacrifice of Jesus. “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son.” He gave the world the best, because of our sin and iniquity. He knew that only Jesus could cover our sins with His love through sacrifice.
With that said, be real with yourself and God, as to the secrets of your heart. Are you giving your best to the Lord? Are you half-stepping? Are you “for real-for real” with God? The “truth” is what sets us free; and we must serve God in liberty; knowing that we are truthfully and honestly serving God with our whole heart for his Glory.
In closing, as we serve unto the Glory of God; we recognize that we must love and love others in deed and word. “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” (1 John 4:16 KJV).
